Leading the product design and development of a financial intelligence platform

The Problem

Sports software company ClubView had a mission – to democratise access to financial intelligence for football clubs of all sizes. They sought to be ground-breaking in their use of real-time data and technology, enabling sports organisations to significantly improve their financial stability. The only problem was, they didn’t have the data capabilities to deliver what they wanted.

The Solution

We reviewed the football finance landscape and potential competitors and carried out interviews with football stakeholders to understand ClubView’s key needs and requirements. Our product team utilised daily stand-ups, iteration planning, reviews in the form of show and tells, and retrospectives to ensure smooth software delivery. Subsequent workshops identified key pain points. A technique known as User Story Mapping enabled us to identify the primary use cases and high-level business requirements.

The Results

A minimal viable product build, using a user-centred design approach within six months. The completed FinTech Software-as-a-Service product was piloted with the English Football League (EFL) for 12 months providing valuable financial benchmarking – this helped football clubs to improve the management of their finances.
